Try living through waiting for a broody Polish of all breeds to live through AND successfully hatch out a clutch of chicks on the outside of the pasture/pen fence boundaries. Luckily after this rain she's proven to me that whereever she is, it is dry, but predators? -- Really really hope such a threat never happens! I cringe just thinking about it, but even if I did find her clutch, I wouldn't really want to move her. There's Tolbunt eggs under her, already at least a week in development.
Just such just happened here with 2 broody Beltsville Small White Turkeys hens.............they were dead set on brooding under a plywood sheet, WAY up the hill.
So we went in & pounded 4 T posts in & surrounded their nest area, and added food & water & cut another hunk of fence wire to cover the new turkey "corral"
Crows were the worst issue, stealing eggs right out from the hens. working in two's...one crow distracts, the other grabs an egg.
I felt alot better after we "enclosed" them.

I'm in lynnwood and am just starting my own chicks. They range in age from three weeks to six weeks. Just found out I have 2 roos! oh no! can't have them in lynnwood (don't want them anyway) I got these from bothell feed center but i think i'd like to get chicks from a breeder in the future. any recomendations in the area?

Hello there. I do not frequent his thread, but it seems very active.

I am wondering if their is any vet in my area, Pyuallup, that would do swab testing. I believe I have a respiratory thing going on. I have been doing research and I want to know exactly what I am dealing with. Thank you in advance for any advice,
You can actually do the test yourself & take the swab directly to the Avian Health lab, right there on Pioneer Way in Puyallup.
PM me if ya need more info.

There are a few breeders up that way, Tailfeathers is located in Granite Falls & has quite a few nice breeds.
WA4-HPoultryMom is located in Monroe & has really nice birds as well.
RainWolf is in Wallingford area of Seattle, not too far from you either.I think she had chicks not too long ago.
