I got a new heat lamp in March and noticed out in the coop that the clamp kept falling off. (Good thing I wasn't using the clamp.) Those things are just cheaply made and it made me nervous, so I kept my eye on the heat lamp w/clamps I used in the house with the brooder. We've had that one for several years and I never had a problem with that clamp falling off. I'm a Red Cross volunteer so I've seen the devastation first hand when it comes to house fires......I would definitely recommend using some other fool proof way to hang the heat lamp OTHER than using the clamp that it came with.
I use wire, heavy vinyard wire to hold the lamps up...and I can set the lamp low for new hatches & raise it as they fledge.
I do not recall ever seeing a high heat lamp with a clamp ??????????

I'm impatient. It's not enough that they're born on time (tomorrow) I want them a day early LOL

Also - both of my Ameracauna's are now broody. Blueberry has been sitting for a few days already - now Blackberry has joined her. They are so darned cute - such tiny girls and yet they can get so fluffy LOL I will probably candle the three eggs tonight and let them co-sit. They were hatched together by co-mamas, so it will be fitting!

CR & I do this a few times each year...and I have appointed him "Heat Lamp Safety Officer" of WA peeps !!
he has awful stories of friend's barns burning down.................all due to heat lamps.

here is a proper heat lamp (Note: no clamp! and heavy cord and ceramic base !!! and heavy guard over the bulb.)

This is a clamp on light fixture.......................NOT a heat lamp fixture.

It has a plastic base and a skinny cord, and no guard over the bulb.

CR feel free to jump in & tell the peeps about the fire !
