OK PREPARE yee self cause I can't contain mee self.
See since the weather was so nice DW took Pierre out to enjoy the sun.

And since I had the camera out. I may as well take a few more. Here are the new Bantam Fav's

Here is Sambo My Bantam Ameracauna. He is living on borrowed time.

Fudge and his ladies. He's looking a little rough right now seems to be moulting.

And now for a little week old cuteness!

What is wrong with me? I want a dog. Ugh. I hate dogs. this has been going on for weeks. I keep getting an inkling that since we have an indoor cat and outdoor chickens, we need a dog. eesh. I don't even like dogs. I like puppies. NOT dogs. Maybe I need to meet the right dog. I grew up with large dogs like Dobermans and Labs, Pit Bulls and Rotts, but why OH! why, suddenly, do I think I need a dog!? ew. I don't like dogs they smell and are SO high maintenance. hrmph.
Yep, and I'm pretty sure most of those breeds you just listed go after chickens......

Going off on a new tangent...

Where do you buy your feed in the south Pierce/east Lewis county areas? I've been going to Graham Hay Market. I really like the people, and they stock an amazing variety of chick breeds, but I'd be interested to hear where you get your best buys. Del's, King Feed, Webster Rd....any other ideas?

I've started feeding Scratch and Peck feed, so I pick it up down at Arrow Lumber in Orting. I don't know anyone else who carries it in the area that is close.

Ok. That picture just looks like he's saying, "What the heck do you think you are doing with that camera? Seems a guy can't take a nap in peace around this place"

It just struck me as funny.

You guys use lawn clippings? Doesn't this get hot and rot? Sometimes there is mold...I compost all mine...is the mold bad for the birds? I have thought of using but afraid would cause problems. My runs are all sand and I have sand down in the coop too. Easy to clean. This is interesting. Would love to hear more.

4312,

My run is quite large, 32x68. I dump the contents of the lawnmower bag and by the time the bag is full again, the chooks have pretty much spread out the contents of the first bag. Each time I empty the bag, I put the clippings in a different spot, and each time the bag is full, the chooks have pretty much spread out the contents. So what happens is that I get a very thin layer of clippings. This lets it dry out really fast. If I were to put down 8 to 12" all at once, that would for sure go anaerobic and get slimy and icky.

I have an 82 lb American Bulldog/Pit Bull mix, Jasper. He points at cats, but sunbathes with the chickens, and smells flowers. He's the only one in my house that always does what I say :) Now Tina, the pug, she attacked the runs and coops, because she was afraid of the Marans, until we started free ranging.
