I actually spent a substantial amount of time with them this evening examining each birds' poo (yeah, I'm a bit OCD when it comes to my hobbies) and nobody had the runs tonight!I think Tilda must have just eaten something that didn't agree with her yesterday. Plan: strictly stick to the new food and bleach solution water (with electrolytes tomorrow because we got new birds today), a tiny bit of scratch in the evenings after I'm sure everyone has had their fill of feed and free-range, and give it a good week or two before re-evaluating things. My birds are only between 10.5-13.5 weeks old.![]()

Mine aren't laying yet, good thing! I still don't know if I will worm now...I just scooped poop from everywhere, lots was fresh and nothing had worms :-/
You won't see worms in the poo unless the birds have a MASSIVE overload of parasites. We live in too wet of an area to not worm our birds....
Quote: Oh good lord...I read this too fast, and somehow saw "sweaty meats" instead of "sweet meats"...ROFL...must've been flashback from that movie I saw last night!!![]()
Quote: As in an earthworm? they can get in the eggs? ick.
No, if a bird has a heavy enough parasite load, they can get into the eggs as they are being made...![]()
Yes they'll be fine, and I don't know about their size, other than being crossed with EE can make them smaller...Question: Will two 11-week-old small Marans be fine together in the outside hutch overnight in low 50 degree temps? There's an almost fully enclosed area, and an area with an open front (wire). They know each other and I'm sure will huddle but I'm worried because they are in the hutch inside the run instead of in the coop with everyone else. I know I need to stop worrying but please assure me they'll be ok!
Also...do Marans run small? The 3 I have (which are each crossed with an EE by coincidence!) run very small for their age. Will they catch up or are Marans smaller birds than the rest of my LF breeds?

Thank you, I think I'm going to wait this time since they are only 2.5-3mo old right now, and worm them at 6mo right before winter. That would put them being wormed at about October 1? Sound about right?
