How do I explain to someone who's put eggs in the fridge all of their lives, that fresh eggs don't need to immediately go into the refridgerator?

I've been gone for 4 days and I came back to 16 eggs!! whoohooo!!!

I dont wash or refridgerate my eggs... :idunno

I throw occasional poopy ones to the dogs but thats it

You only need to refrigerate if they can not be kept cool.... under 70F
I don't refrigerate my eating eggs either. they will be fine for 2-3 weeks easy if not a lot more..... They just never make it past 2 weeks..... :D
If you keep them cool at 50-60F then they will last a good 6-9 months.... I've even heard up to a year... But I'm not testing that.
If you pack them in lard like they did on the old sailing ships... they will last for 2 years..... (not refrigerated)
You can pickle them too :D
I think the ones pickled in beet juice are fun!

we saw them too and resisted!!

How could you resist? Aren't they flaming chickens just like you?

Those are cute. We didn't get any fireworks, hubby said he'd rather spend the money on ammo. There were a lot going off around us. I could just barely see them through the tree tops. Dogs totally ignored them. Chickens seemed to as well, they were out foraging ignoring all the mortars that were going off. Helps we are out of town and no one is close. None of our immediate neighbors were setting anything off.

I think they poop ashes though which is a little too close to dust.

Quote: You have a very wise Husband and I'll just leave the reasons why out of this post but yes, stock pile the ammo.

We live near Lake Margaret and walked up there and watched thousands and thousands of $$$$$$$$$$$$$ of those huge shells go off.
Lot of rich people around here with money to burn.
I'm not one of them.
The most I have seen go off in years up here and we been here 21 years now.

Well, the only animals I was worried about with the fireworks were my cats and the chickens. Cats stayed inside all day and the chickens could not care less about all the noise. But I will be very busy trying to find my great dane Jazz. One of the kids left the gate open and he walked out, which normaly is fine and he is such a momma's boy he never takes off. He has never had a problem with fireworks either, so we think that maybe he was walking around out by the street and some one thought he was a lost dog and picked him up. Or the big mortor booms scared him this year. I am losing my mind with him not being here. If I had not had a fewe drinks last night there is no way I would have been able to sleep. I hope we find him soon.

Hope no one elts lost a family memeber (pet) to the fireworks. Also I hope that you all had a great 4th of July!

Chickens, horses and dog were not bothered by the fireworks at all. We did leave our dog in the car while we went to the Kirkland firework display as he seems more bothered by the crowds than the noise.

It is the car giving us trouble this morning. The Miata has decided to not go into gear and so I have called a tow truck to come get it.
Another car repair! This is the year for it.
