Here is who you need to contact, I have the website for you.My kids will be 10, 8 and 8 in October... sounds like they are all old enough for 4-H.
Awesome! I had no idea 4-H included things other than animal husbandry. Of the animals, we'd be primarily interested in poultry.
I have a 10-year-old who has been over-the-top crazy about trains since he was two. The whole family has begun to love trains because of him. He has small Lionel Christmas trains and a Lionel O-scale train set. Our family even chased one of the last Steam Engines that operate through Auburn and Maple Valley. We chased it again that same day as it rolled back through. It was a fun day for everyone, but the BEST day for my little guy.
My daughter loves sewing (well, actually, so do the boys - but, shhh... don't tell anyone that.) A couple of years ago Santa brought her a very high-quality 3/4 scale sewing machine that has a 25-year warranty. The hope is it will last her through college. She also loves to help me in the garden.![]()
OK... so now I'm definitely going to have to give 4-H a good look. We're in King County (Auburn). Hopefully we have good clubs. Being a Scout leader, I'm overwhelmed with responsibility so I don't want to start one on my own. I help out at Girl Scouts, as well. I'm hoping to find something where I can be a "helper" and not a leader. I truly enjoy that I'm only responsible to teach girl scouts every 4-5 sessions or so instead of every week like Cub Scouts.
I also run a Jr. FLL (First Lego League) team each fall (well, actually, last fall I had too many kids, so I had to run 2). That's a great program for the kids who are more brainiac-oriented and not sport oriented. All three of my kids love it. Last year, I had a 4-girl team, and all 4 girls were sports oriented - but they LOVED Jr. FLL as well. That was pretty cool. Here's info on that... http://www.usfirst.org/
4-H is one of the best groups you could have your child in. At least that s what I think
