Awesome! I had no idea 4-H included things other than animal husbandry. Of the animals, we'd be primarily interested in poultry.
I was a 4-Her and it can be an awesome experience. We had all sorts of great projects, from the more traditional clothing (sewing) and foods (cooking, canning, etc.) to marine biology and computers, along with the livestock and guide dog raising. I don't know how it works now, but back then if there was an adult leader available, you could have any kind of project, so you'd be able to start a railroad project, for example.

Robotics would be fun too. I've heard of the Lego leagues, but am more familiar with the other FIRST competitions...I support Aviation High School's Team 1983 Skunkworks.

Lots of sad pet news this week. We are having our own pet changes. I had my daughter and her (leased) horse evaluated yesterday day by a new trainer. She confirmed what I had been thinking about these last few months. He is just about done. He is stiff and not moving well, has no energy and I have other concerns about him. We have had him with us for 3 years. His owner is moving to Boston and I don't know what will happen with him. So this week begins the difficult conversations about what to do with Spec. My horse is old too but you would never know it. He shows no signs of slowing down and would be too much horse for my daughter and our 3rd horse is still a baby. So we are off this morning to let my daughter have a lesson on the trainers horse and if all goes well, she will show that horse tomorrow.
I hope the trainer's horse works out and she can show successfully tomorrow and that something can also be worked out for Spec. Was he the tall bay with the roany face marking or the lighter brown/bay I saw?

So I think I may have four cockerels out of the six blue Ameraucanas I got from Pips & Peeps at the Monroe show in March. Since they are all from the same parents, I'm not keeping any for breeding. They are really too nice to eat, so I'd like to see if any BYC folks would like any of these guys. Picture below.

I know there are people who think otherwise here, and I don't want to step on their feet.

For me, I will do everything possible to make sure any eggs don't go Priority Mail.

I realize there's no guarantee that things will get here in 3 days, but it's simply unacceptable to have a mail supervisor tell me that even though the scan says it left the sorting facility, it really didn't, because, after all, individual packages aren't scanned, it's just a scan to say that all the mail left the building.

Really??

Okay, just a vent on behalf of myself. That's all.

Those of you who have linoleum on your coop floors - how is it affixed? For my last coop DH says it had self adhesive strips underneath. I got a scrap from my cousin yesterday and it does not. Do you staple? Nail it? Is there glue or some adhesive strips I can find at the hardware store? I am SO close to finishing my VF coop - I'm want to move the Silkies out of the house this weekend!
TIA!
There is a linoluem adhesive you can buy at any hardware store. It should be in the flooring section. At our Home Depot it is by the carpet rolls.

If you have some molding around you could put the linoleum down than but molding around the edges, that way you can change it. I only have tile in my brooder have to do a good clean out of the other coops and put linoleum down but thats how Im going to do when I get a chance.
I used formica in mine. It is fantastic! Caulked around the edges and glued to the floor!
