I don't own a red light and have very limited funds.

Right now its in the incubator keeping warm. The wound is all scabbed over. Its doing better but now the one eye is shut and for some reason the other eye won't open. Which is probably why its not peeping its head off. I need to find another lamp so I can at least get it out of the incubator.

Where do you get the blue stuff?

So I have the 250 watt red light than when they need less heat I put the reg lights in but oh wait here is what I do. I get red spray paint and spray it red, so I have all watts sprayed red. Can you get some spray paint and do that? I never put chicks under white lite but Im sure some people do. I just know Ive had way better luck with them under red. Now saying that I do have a light in the room that is on that is reg light.
So you need to take a warm washcloth and put it on the eyes and see if you can get them to open up so it can see with out that it wont be able to see the food and water plust put another chick with it so the other chick can show it how to eat.
Than I hate to say this mother nature does know how to cull its weekest link but it sounds like maybe the chick got by a big girl who didnt want to have anything to do with it. Im so sorry.. Good luck..

I don't know the answer...but I know that I have crowing from al over my yard. EVERYONE crows...including the newbies.

I've only had that happen once, where the dominant rooster crowed, and the other didn't. Once the dominant rooster was gone, the lesser roo started crowing, mating, and finally developed his comb. He was over a year old by this time. I've never seen that happen since...

Interesting responses all around. My LH is 20 weeks and learned how to crow about a month ago. My BO is 6 months and he doesn't crow at all, neither does my EE, he's 18 weeks I think, might be older. Just caught him trying to mount one of his sisters this morning.

So far, none of them understand the "feed the flock first" and "call alert for predators" rules yet......

I'd really like my BO to be the lead roo. But in order for that to happen, I need to lose the LH and the EE.

these guys are part "dog". They follow me around. They like to bite my painted toe nails. They want to sit in your lap. I had to do some rearranging of pens (chicken) so that the turkey's could see US better. They like to be able to see us, especially me or the husband. what a bunch of lovers. Well of course I love them too...especially with mashed potatoes and gravy

....I am kidding. None of these guys will see the freezer. I promise. My daughter even made me "sign" an contract that none of these 6 will see the inside of the freezer.

So does that mean youll be eating them fresh?

We need some help getting Sleepy from Northgate to Somewhere near Auburn, Covington,Lakewood or Sumner. I will be able to meet up with anyone able to help. Sleepy needs to get to Enumclaw this coming Saturday.

How far south will you come? Northgate is too far for me to go just for 2 banties to butcher. I'm happy to help out though, and maybe meet somewhere in Renton to pick up all 3 birds and go down to Enumclaw for the processing and to deliver Sleepy. Just let me know if something like that will work

3 mo of 108 temps, well dried up, they are using water sparingly for selves & livestock from a few storage tanks, crops are left to die, and so far she has lost over 300 chickens to heat death between her & her parents.

That's terrible!
