Well if we are all talking and joking I think I should be OK with it. Just cant think about it and dwell on it that's for sure... Oh I'm sure the smell isn't nice. I was with a friend when she picked up her beef and the place was still wrapping and have to say that smell after 15 didn't make me feel very good..

I can handle blood for sure had horse's and getting the male gilded by a few vets was interesting. One guy said do you want me to toss them here or there and don't get me started on the goat that had them up inside. We laughed so hard with the one my son and vet had me rolling.

Told my hubby what I was going to do and he just looked at me like sure you are...
Mostly the "smell" is wet hot feathers....kinda like a dirty wet dog smell.
IF the birds have been withdrawn of feed, there is little poop.

I keep a spray bottle of 100% of the bleach "solution" right on the sink...and spray regularly, all knives, cutting board and dose the water scalding pot with a few cups every so many birds, as they are dirty...especially Cornish X.

LF egg-layer breeds need to be at least 4 mo old...(in my opinion)......otherwise you cannot get your hand in the ab cavity, it is too small an opening on cockerels.
In addition to that: the older they get, the tougher they get AND to top it off, if you process a cockerel (egg layer breed) under 4 mo old, there ain't much meat there..........

So I'll just send them to the auction than. I didnt think I could do it to them any ways. How big a area would I need for 25 corn ball to grow in ?

I use a chicken tractor & keep moving it.
Keeps bad having to change bedding every day toward the end.
Last year I had them in a coop on grass in the pen, worked great, but I have Crele Chanteclers in that pen now.

CR.... bee question for you. A bumble bee was stumbling around on the wood I was working with - like it was blind or something. I got a closer look - it only has 1 full wing, and a teeny, teeny portion of a 2nd wing. It can't fly. I scooped it into a bug box (you know, the kind with a magnifying lid) so the kids see it and wouldn't accidentally step on it. I threw in some marigold flowers, it found them and it seemed happy. What do I feed it? If I manage to keep it alive, will it's wing grow back?
No they don't grow wings back. Actually honey bees (and probably bumbles) literally fly their wings off. Then they end up on the ground and soon die. It will need pollen and nectar. But it will most likely die soon. Enjoy the chance to watch and learn.

So 2 days ago, I was upset about the dead tomato leaves that were hanging down on the lower parts of the plants....and they were covered in furry gray mould...so I was reaching under & ripping the dead leaves out & could see the dust that floated out off the leaves.......and by evening I started feeling hard to breath..............and now I am seriously having issues walking up the hill which I do all day...........so, googled, and there was a photo of Asperigillosis on a tomator leaf.........................

I have a couple of roosters to get rid of. PM me and let me know if interested. I live near Northgate in north Seattle. My hard drive is dying, so I'm not on much these days.
