Can someone tell me how to clip wings or a sight to show me how, I really need to know because they keep flying out of the fence into the neighbors yard. Once even in the neighbors dogs pen, he's a hunting dog so I really don't think he won't attack the bird next time they get in there. So that's why I really need some info on clipping wings.

They are adorable. I'm missing the stage where they are little already and my youngest are just 6 weeks.

So what breeds are they?

I'm not going to guess on the sex of the one. I don't want to jinx anything, but even with sexed birds sometimes you end up with a cockerel. Out of the 6 brahma pullets I bought, there is one that I'm certain is a boy.
I don't know what breeds they are. I got them from craigslist. The young lady brought them to her house from her mothers farm, as a favor because she is local to me. So I'm guessing they are all mixed. My guesses are Red is rhode island red, Chick is black astrolorp, Roxy is barred rock, Pandora I have no idea, and Spike I have no idea. So its a mixture just for fun and eggs later, we won't be hatching chicks. I run a home daycare and the kids love to watch the chicks and pet them. MAN we do a lot of handwashing here, lol.

If I had to venture an educated guess (though I'm not terribly skilled at this by any means!) I would say Spike is a cockeral; s/he has a wider, and of course MUCH more red pea comb than anyone else! Can you post a pic of his/her legs? Cockerals are supposed to have sturdier, thicker legs than pullets, though it doesn't always hold true. I hope Spike turns out a girl though, for your sake! We just got rid of our cockeral today and it was hard! I loved that boy!
I have noticed a couple red thingys growing under Spike's beak too, one on each side. Chick is the one with the "man-legs", haha. Spike is also the one that antagonizes the dog. It is a little funny to watch. The dog weighs 10 pounds, but I do know not to leave her unsupervised even if the chicks are always inside their run.

Anyone else's roosters crow with the moon?

Close to morning, but still...... SHUT UP! IT'S ONLY 4:30!!!

They've been doing this for the last couple of nights. This morning it was especially irritating because I had to close my bedroom window just when the cool air was pouring in.

Not quite with the moon, but our Brabanters cockerel finally learned real crowing. As in the neighbors would know that we have a rooster - cannot have that.

So - if anyone that reads this thread wants him to watch their flock for no charge (not for eating - if it comes to that I'm eating him!) please contact me and we can arrange a meeting place.

There is a link to his ad in my signature.
