Greetings to all you from the beautiful Northwest! I reside in Spanaway/Graham/Fredrickson(depending on who you talk to, and what day of the week it is lol). Currently I own 3 hens and 1 roo all are Gallus Gallus9red jungle fowl). I am very interested in learning tons, Had thoughts of seeing if any of you had bantams or something small for sale. I would much rather buy from a local chicken lover then a heartless chicken factory. Anyways, Cheers!

Im sure you will like it I dont have any bantams I want to part with.. but Im sure you will find someone here that can help you out or point you in the right direction

Well, since you've not given us the size of your coop and run, I'll just make a guess.

Most folks with a coop have between 80 and 100 sqft. and the coop is usually big enough for an adult to stand in. So lets go with a 8x10 coop that has a 6' ceiling. That structure provides roughly 480 cubic feet of space. Large fowl probably take up 1.5 cubic feet each, but you have a mix of sizes, so lets just go with 1 cubic foot per bird.

Stacked like cord wood, you can get close to 500 birds in your coop.

Lovinchickypoos, if you really need to know how many chickens you should have to safely accommodate your chickens, typically the rule is 4ft per LF in the actual hen house/coop and 10 sq ft per LF in the run. For banties, it's a little less.

I was just being silly. I do need to measure it again and build a bigger/better roost. I want to say I remember it being something like 12x6 and not sure about the run but it is a large space. They are usually allowed to range late a.m. until they go to bed. Fortunately, the whole area is big enough for the newbies to run away from the old tenants!
