Other than noise, yes, everything is legal. They could make me get rid of them for noise. I finally went out and mowed the lawn during Rhodie's biggest squawk attack (before I discovered the cat) just to help camouflage the noise. Boy, that small back yard took me a very long time to mow!

Auburn has pretty strict noise ordinances. All it takes is one call for animal control to show up on your doorstep and issue a warning. My friend went on vacation for 5 days and came home to animal control issuing a warning about her 2 expensive pure-bred dogs that she's had for years, who normally do not bark - but they did that weekend because the Casino was letting off fireworks non-stop, and they were away from home and unable to put them in the house. Even with the firework problem, animal control warned them to get the dogs quiet or they would lose them. Our neighborhood is usually pretty quiet - occasionally we'll hear dogs barking - and then all of the sudden the barking stops. We've often wondered if those dogs have been removed. It usually takes a 2nd call and the animal is removed. From what I understand, they are not taken to a no kill shelter either - which is why I have never called animal control on the stray cat.

When we owned our dog, we had to keep him drugged from May through the week after 4th of July because our dog just couldn't keep from barking at the noise. Even in the house, he would go nuts at the fireworks. The Casino sets up firework stands and begins lighting them off the beginning of May. That is one of the biggest reasons I am dead-set that we will not get another dog as long as we live here. I hated seeing our French Brittany walking around in a dopey, drugged state for two and a half months each year. It wasn't fair to him at all. And, being kept inside during that time wasn't fair to him, either. He was an active dog - all the way until he died at 15. He wanted to be outside and playing.
THAT'S OUTRAGEOUS!! SO THERE IS NO EXCUSE FOR A DOG TO BE BARKING BUT FIREWORKS GET TO BE FIRED OFF FOR TWO MONTHS??? MAKES ME VERY THANKFUL TO BE IN THE COUNTRY!!!

I couldn't bring myself to move to the suburbs. We have a lovely five-acre plot in Snohomish where no one cares about the noise and we can have as many chickens as we want. I also have the freedom to control the rat population with firearms.

I just found this and had to share. Keep in mind this was in the Chehalis area.

‘WE CAN’T HELP YOU”
• An individual from Southwest Chehalis Avenue in Chehalis called 911 on Friday afternoon saying he wanted to talk to an officer because although his chickens won at the fair last year, nobody will buy his eggs. He wanted to take someone to court, according to the Chehalis Police Department. Further details were no readily available as no report was written. It was labeled a civil issue, police said.

Perphaps someone should have asked why he was selling his eggs for $200 a pop!

Got our second green egg today from Laya. Still wondering when Martha will start laying since she is more mature! I checked her bones near her vent and she's still very very small (only one finger fits between them, whereas I can fit 3 fingers between Laya's). So weird! All my other hens seem very ready to lay but not my largest most mature one!

OK folks I have a special request here. IF we had communicated via cell phone in the past and you want to continue to. Please send me your # via PM or e-mail. This time I will write down my contacts. See it seems that when I was test running the sandrail in the field tonight. My cell phone got very scarred and jumped out and hid in the tall grass!!! (coward) I have just spent nearly 2 hours out there in the dark looking. Of course I didn't find the cowardly phone because it is dressed in a camo holster. I also suspect that I may have unknowingly run over it in which case it was probably hit by the paddle tires and launched into orbit. Warning watch out for cowardly projectile cell phones dressed in camo!!! Can ya guess what I am going to do IF I find this phone or with the next one I get??? Yes it's gonna be in a fluorescent PINK case.
