See I actually take a little time to look at peoples "profile" and whatever info they choose to share. I just wonder how many others do same. For example I wonder how many new(er) members know the story of Chicken Rustler. It is in text for all to see/read.

I do. I think the story of the Chicken Rustler was one of the first profiles I read!

I think I read it in a moment of wondering "Is this guy fer real?"

Believe me when I say that although there are squabbles and bickering going on here right now with some, most of the time things get worked out and even though we (as in this group) would do the best we could to come to your aid if ever there was a need for it. I started out just reading and asking questions. I took what I could use from the answers and ignored what didn't work for me. I didn't get upset if someone was a little abrupt in their reply, I looked at it as information.
AND as you pointed out so great, we lose tone of voice, facial expressions and emotion through text. I am all for suggesting we use the emoticons whenever we can to express emotions.
Oh wait, Emoticons....Emotions. Huh, what do you know.

This is just a thought and a suggestion.

And with this last post - I gotta go see why my kids are sleeping in so late. They have been little crab pots the last couple of days. They stayed up very late when their Aunt and Grandma were here - but, they start school next week. Sleeping in until almost 10 a.m. - that's NOT a good way to get prepared to go back to school.

Have a good day everyone! I'm keeping my fingers crossed Caunnie (my EE) will lay her first egg today. She's been squatting a lot. Wish us luck!

Very good deduction!

Actually, my 20 year old daughter is a fervent Jane Austen fan. "Becoming Jane" is one of her favorite movies and Anne Hathaway is one of her favorite actresses. Thus, the Mr. Darcy! She also named Charlotte and Emily for the Bronte sister authors... but that's a little more subtle!

Good luck Renee! I'm laying here in the hotel waiting for the pain meds to kick in so I can help finish packing up to come home! So glad to get home to my girls and my kitty <3 we had a great vacation though :)

I thought so, but didn't know if I was 'off base' regarding Jane Austen an 'Mr. Darcy'. I love Jane Austen and the Bronte sisters. I have been downloading their works, to my phone and computer.

Amazon is working with the Library of Congress to scan in, and make available (for free), the great works. They are scanning in first and second editions. I had no idea what a language shift, that has taken place since those books were published. It's not just the words, it's the punctuation. VERY different than what we use today.

I admit that, when I was reading a first edition Pride & Prejudice, the lauguage wasn't difficult it was the punctuation that kept stopping my 'eye'. Took a bit to overcome that and read it like any other book published today.

Do I get a prize for getting it right??? LOL!!!

Sheila :)

Huh, must be something in the air, both of my little ones are still dead to the world as well!! I should be waking them up but I had a rough night so I'm enjoying the quiet alone time. My husband works night shifts several times a month and I can't sleep fer nothin when he's gone at night! I hate it! Then, to top it off, my stomach is not happy with me thanks to the gordita from taco bell that I had last night.
