I have a big bag of grit that was pretty cheap at the farm supply store in Auburn... much cheaper than fish tank rocks from Walmart would be.  I think it was called cherry stone - but I'm not positive, and it is too dark to go look.

The del's in port orchard does have large bags of grit in chick size and does not even have hen size grit. Please share bag size and price when light enough to see I may just need to drive some were else a Wilco just opened in gig harbor would they have it .

Does Coastal Farm have a variety of grits. I have found that most feed stores have just chick grit or smaller/same size. I'd like to find a larger grit.

Bigger than this chick grit:

So now I have the creepy crawlies and don't want to go to sleep. We found another one of those spiders in the dining room tonight. We followed the directions the lab gives - caught it alive, put it in a baggy and froze it - unsmashed. Let me tell you, my nerves were getting pretty unraveled knowing I *could* be handling a live hobo spider. Now I can't stop itching even though I'm extremely tired.

Oh, I was wondering what the lab results were! I guess the previous specimen wasn't adequate for identification??

Can y'all read this? CR is this what you were looking for? I can't find my label though I usually save them until I'm through with a bag of feed. Weird. But this is the online label of ingredients and it looks good to me! I would hesitate buying anything else for now since my girls love it and it's soy/corn free.

I don't know the first ingredient but Notice that it is only a 10% protein which means it will drop your average. Which may cause a drop in egg production.

Bet em $2.00 across the board!

Ha! Ha! My husband placed the bets on them. I doubt he made back what he bet. It wasn't their best day... one didn't place, the other took third. But, both of them have had an awesome winning streak this season. The one that took third was claimed, too, for $12,500. So, kinda sad to see the winning streak end for one horse. That horse will be going to California. I think everyone was bummed at the claiming, but feeling pretty happy that the horse they paid $3,500 for at the beginning of the season had such an awesome winning streak before being claimed away. Now they just have the one horse and they think they can drop her down a class because of her last two finishes. Dropping her back down might set her up to start winning again.

The chart I find went like this

Chick 1/32-1/16
Pullet. 1/16-3/16
Hen. 3/16-5/16

So I give larger rocks for my hens in a feeder in my pen so they can eat all they want.

I rarely buy scratch anymore. The birdies have been getting small amounts of leftover fruits, veggies and black oil sunflower seeds. I bought a large container of the seeds mid-spring and still have more than half of the container left. I don't remember how much it was, though. They do get the opportunity to range most days and there are PLENTY of buggies and lawn for them to eat. I LOVE when they don't chow thru the bag of feed so quickly!!!
