What kind of owls? We have Barred owls and Great Horned owls in my neck of the woods, but I'm not sure if they can be classified as 'cute.'

Now, screech owls and saw whet owls are a different story! SO ADORABLE!

Honestly, I have no idea what kind they are. We have to position ourselves just right to see them - and sometimes, they are so high, we can't make out much. From down low where we are standing, they look pretty tiny. LOL! I'm sure if they were standing on the ground next to me, they might not look so tiny. I'll have to ask my husband tomorrow if he knows what kind they are.

You know what? A raccoon looks pretty cute when it's up in a tree, too. LOL!

Tribbles are from the original Star Trek. Anyone who knows what they are is clearly a Trekkie. Like me.

They were furry little round creatures that multiplied and filled the entire Enterprise with fuzzballs.

And apparently their food sounds a lot like the first ingredient in the chicken scratch I linked to last night.

OK thank you. That would explain why I had no clue.

You really should watch it, that particular episode is quite comical!
DS9 did a tribble episode, too.

Well I finally had to go to the doctor today. He gave me some meds (I am not a fan of pain meds) that may hopefully offer some relief. Also sending for x-rays and then possibly to see a surgeon. Right now I would entertain the idea of amputation if it means relief.

Really?! I'll have to look it up now and put it on my watchlist. How funny!

Awww.... that's why I had absolutely no clue.

However, I did get your "young Padawan" comment

thanks to 2 little Star Wars freak-a-zoids who live at my house. They know stuff about Star Wars that I don't even think George Lucas knew! Might I add... don't ever get them started in a conversation about Star Wars - you'll probably never be able to get them out of it. You will be informed of every single fact, measurement, language, etc. that was written in many books after the movies were made. Then they will show you how to make every single star fighter and spaceship in Origami - they'll explain each fold and make absolutely sure you are watching every second. Your eyes will glaze over. Your head will spin. And you will find yourself wondering how to escape planet earth just to save yourself from 2 young Padawans who have it out for boring you to death.

I'm also living in pain. Sounds like totally different things happening, but pain is pain and it's awful. Sorry to hear you are in a bad place. I hope you can sort it all out soon too!

I identified the Barred owls based on their calls. Otherwise, I wouldn't know what's out there! In the guide, they describe it as sounding something like 'who cooks for you.' It's fairly distinctive, and you can hear what they're talking about when you hear the owls hooting. The Great Horned owl has the classic scary movie owl hoot. They're both too big for comfort, so I keep an ear out when the light starts to fade. I'm not going to let those owls have an easy meal!

I'm so very sorry you're in that much pain. Have you tried acupuncture?

Oh, I'm sorry. I hope you feel better soon. I hope you don't have to have surgery. Not fun!

Oh. Man. Today I was totally busted for not watching John do something when I said I would watch. It's so hard when all they want to do is show you the same lame thing over and over again, but it's not lame to them! I need to be better about that. I once heard a quote "If you don't listen to them now, they won't talk to you when they're older" and it's so true. I have a hard time realizing that no matter if I think it's important, they think what they are saying is important and I need to value it too. That way they'll actually talk to me when it really counts
