I wanna go!  I'm never sure when DH will be home from work, so possibly my kids may need to come..is that OK?  They can play chess while we talk chickens.  ;)   I am really close, just south of LFP, in Seattle.

Yes I have drunk from the possum kool-aid again.

I see the chicken now that it's pointed out. I thought it was a wombat or lemur or something like that at first. But saw a possum face up by the shoulder, and raccoon foot. Maybe a poscoon or raccossum.

I think it's time to go to bed.

I'm not sure what it is, not a possum, definitely some kind of hen! ..it's the very first chicken I held, at the Shoreline Solarfest a couple months ago. Exactly one week before I bought my first chickens LOL.

Hi all!

Just got back from Oregon for the weekend. We went down to celebrate grandparent's day with my mom. We had a good time. I now have a little boy with black eye though (sigh). My little boy, his twin sister, a misguided foot and a bounce house didn't make for a good ending to the day. My poor little man!

I got home, went out to pull the eggs. We had an extra egg. So, I'm not sure if I'm should be excited or disappointed. The 2nd egg was a light brown egg. I don't know if Drama is old enough to lay eggs yet or not. She's 21 weeks. Both Drama and Caunnie are squatting, so, theoretically, that egg *could* be Drama's, but I'm not holding out hope. DH said to just be happy to have another layer. He's probably right. But, if that egg belongs to Caunnie, I can't help but feel a little bit slighted that my EE is throwing brown eggs.

ohhhh jb... i have weekends off for a couple months.... I can go to a auction and check it out! and sell my lemon orp and buff orp? how does selling work?
You will need to box the birds, and drop them off by 10:30am on Saturday morning. The auction starts at 11 am. Then you will get a check on Tuesday or Wednesday. I recommend that you box your birds in individual boxes. I think that you tend to get more per bird that way. Liquor store boxes are often the best for taking chickens to auction. The auction house in Enumclaw does take a 30% percent fee, for selling things at the auction.

I also think that everyone should go to the auction at least once. It is a very interesting experience, and completely family friendly. For me the trick is to not get a buyers pass. But somehow I don't think it's as much fun without the pass.

Oh I forgot about the 2 dozen quail eggs that followed me home too. They are now in the incubator.

WOOHOO!!!!!!!!!!!!! I bet it's Drama's! It doesn't look to be the norm, but I found this thread here that says one gal's light brahma started laying at 21 weeks. Drama looks like this doesn't she?
