Those in areas that surround Auburn (Enumclaw, Bonney Lake, Sumner, Fed Way, Kent, Covington), I'm looking for a music store that can repair a couple of clarinets. Any recommendations? The only music store that I know of is in Tacoma.

I got an awesome deal at a garage sale in Eastern WA - I bought two clarinets for $15.00 each!

They need new corks and reeds. But, other than that, they should be good. I need to get one fixed right away. We're trying to get our 5th grader into band.
There is a Kennelly Keys in Tukwila. They do wind repairs.

Another thing I drink all day long is bone broth. Here's the information on it. I drink 1-2 quarts per day and it keeps me full with lots of nutrients in it, and I have been healthy for quite some time now. My kids love it too! http://nourishedkitchen.com/perpetual-soup-the-easiest-bone-broth-youll-make/
That's an interesting idea. I DO like homemade broth but had never thought about the never-ending crockpot-o-broth LOL Not sure that I could actually consume a quart a day though. Thanks for that Idea Jess, I'll be giving it a try

Well I just got done at the Dr. for my shoulder/neck, for the second time in a week. Kinda bummed at the initial findings. I guess I just need to keep in mind there are others who are dealing with worse issues.

Take care of yourself and don't over do it. Listen to the doctor, you paid for his advise, take it. That said you probably won't.

Well shoot, yesterday I only got 3 eggs from those lazy good -for-nothings. So I modified their nesting boxes somewhat. (put a wide ledge in front of the boxes, put a cover over the box) and today I got 2 eggs from the boxes. If the would all use the boxes I wouldn't have to go into the coop at all, as the boxes have an access panel from the outside. But there was one hen on the floor in the corner (where they mostly laid eggs b4) so I don't know how many I will get today. Got my fingers crossed.

I have a question. Back oh so many posts ago ya'll were talking about your diets and things you can or can't, do or don't eat. I would really like to get my family to the point of not having prossesed foods which will be a huge struggle for me with 5 kids. But right now I am wondering what in the world do ya'll drink? I have a son that has ADHD and other behaviral things we are helping him battle and I have found that all those dies in the drinks and food really affect him (as well as the other 4 kids). I have tried taking out all drinks that contain those dies but I can't find much to substitue. So I am really looking for ideas if ya'll have any.

Today I plan on trying to make my first batch of black berry jam. My cousin made some the other day and told me I need (besides the berries) sugar and stuff called Pectin. Those of you that make jams, do you use this Pectin stuff or no?
So I guess that was two questions lol.
Blackberries do not naturally contain pectin so you do need to use it for it to set up. Apples and grapes naturally contain pectin so in theory if you added the right amount of either with your berries it should act as a pectin substiute but you would alter the flavor and consistency to more of a butter thatn a jam. Pectin that you purchase is generally derived from cooking citrus peels so it should not be an issue for you. If you only intend to make enough to eat now, you can substitute gelatin but do not freeze or can as it will not remain stable. Good luck! As for beverages without colorings, if you can afford it try PCC, whole foods and Trader Joes. I don't think many of their juices contain artificial coloring or dyes and they may have soda without them as well. I don't see why you couldn't add some juice and club soda together to make "sodas" either as a special beverage.

Hey Jen -- did you know chickens are birds? I'm teasing! I find that my birds a oddly picky and don't care for some of the seeds in wild bird seed.
I just didn't know if it was too high in fats or if the "local" wild bird mix was suitable. God knows you get lectured these days by avian experts about feeding non pellet diets to house birds like parrots, finches, etc. Just don't want to give the chickens fatty liver issues or anything! Thanks!

It seems that PollyAnna my black silkie loves being broody. I had 2 silkies go broody, feathers (who has done it now 4 times in the last year) and Polly (first time) they hatched 2. They would have had more but someone keeps killing the chicks just before they are hatched. =( I thought hmm one each right. Nope She moved over to the spot that most of the hens lay in and is sitting again.

Any one close to me have any interesting eggs I can put under her?

Oh yeah and she is a mean broody too. =( My other 2 I can pick up and they just cluck at me. Polly pecks at me.

Just a thought, but if she's a mean broody or if she's the one killing the chicks, couldn't you break her this time? Just wondering why you want to give her eggs if she's a meanie head. LOL
