Well, I must be a pretty good student. I've been taking lessons from the infamous Chicken Rustler. Let's see... today I managed to rustle 6 fertilized eggs from the Rustler himself for an eggsperiment. And, I managed to rustle a couple of lemon cucumbers and a beautiful pie pumpkin from Justbugged's gorgeous garden! Successful day, if I don't say so myself! Thanks guys!!!!

After seeing Justbugged's chicken set-up, I now have ideas flowing through my brain on a possible larger run. She has a nice, large run in an urban lot.

And, no... DH has no idea I'm in possession of eggsperimental eggs. So.... shhhhh!

Whats the poultry auction like at the Enumclaw Sales Pavillion? I want to go one Saturday but not sure if its worth it. What kind of information is provided with the birds?

Honestly, if you're wanting to buy birds, I might recommend against it. It is kind of a dumping ground. And, for those who have chickens as pets, and treat them as such, it is difficult to watch how they are handled. I understand that kind of handling is common, but I still have a hard time seeing people walking around carrying their birds by their wings. Our girls are handled very gentle here at home - yeah, we baby our girls. :)

Nice to have a heads up. Are the birds usually in good shape?

From what I understand the information provided is the color of the bird :)
Ha!

Agreed. I would buy from MOST people here on this forum thread, but not the auction, unless you want to grab some birds to process and eat.

That would be our reason to go there. My husband keeps looking at my hens... and thinking about dinner. I need to keep his stomach full and my hens safe.

But then who knows how the birds at the auction were treated/fed/cared for?

Any one have some unwanted birds in the Eatonville area?

That would be my question. They look ok... but that doesn't mean they "are" ok. Some look rougher than others. Some are stuffed so tightly, multiple birds, in a small box. Poor things.

My youngest learned a valuable lesson at the auction today... do NOT pet a small goat. The goat got the better of him. Last time, it was the noise. Now, it's the goat. I have a feeling I'll have a difficult time getting him to walk into that place again. He's not a fan of the auction. LOL!

I'll go with you! I would still reallllly love to go sometime. Maybe just the two of us?!

Well DH went to WinCo for me this afternoon, he'll be home soon with a car load of goodies for me to cook with this week. I love that place, SO cheap! I hope he bought some form of convenience food that won't kill our kids because I'm just plain done for the day and won't cook. Maybe we'll have breakfast for dinner...again. Oh! Brussels Sprout hash! Nevermind, I might cook if it means I get to eat that.
