Hmm... Let see limeade, keylime pie, mojitos, etc....I ended up with 10 limes in my co-op fruit basket today. What do I do with them? I've never made anything with lime before.

I agree. This description lends me to think of injury and not illness. Whjy? All your other birds are completely healthy. When ever one of my chickens is eating something, others instantly go see what that is and try to steal it. So to me, if one of my birds got into some type of poison, others would have as well. It is only injuries that are limited to one bird.
Just my opinion.
Marek's Disease is my guess. We've had a few chickens in the past come down with a mystery illness that is always fatal. Their neck starts to twist and curl back and they can't walk. Eating and drinking are very difficult and become impossible after two days or so. They're just so out of it and lethargic, and not just because of inadequate food. Does anyone know what this could be?
Zgoatlady has nice Black Copper Marans, but any Marans will give you an olive egg if bred to an Ameraucana, not an EE, but a true pure bred Ameraucana.Hi folks.... I have been doing some research for my next additions to my chicken family... See the dark brown eggs below and the olive green ones.. I would like some girls that lay those colorsI was told to look for Olive Eggers.... So I did a search and found that can mean several things
That French Black Marans lay the dark brown eggs?? I think I have it right... I researched those 2 types of birds and I was wondering if any one has any or knows someone that might have or want to sell some????

If you breed your marans to your Ameraucana, hatch the resulting egg.My Marans laid gorgeous dark brown eggs (sometimes with speckles, so pretty!) and my Wheaten Ameracauna lays the bluest eggs I've ever seen. Both of those birds came from fellow BYCer Illia. Perhaps she has more Marans.
Jeanine did that at the March Poultry Show, a St Patty's Day basket with mugs, mint hot chocolate stuff. What a cool idea!!!
Quoting myself here to add:If you breed your marans to your Ameraucana, hatch the resulting egg.
For example, make up a breeding pen, smallish is fine for just a few birds.
Put in either a Marans Cock & Am hens or Am cock & Marans hens.
Waite a week or 2, then check fertility & hatch them= you'll get Olive Eggers.
Quote: Thing is, it's happened in hatchery birds that were vaccinated for Marek's and only one bird gets it at a time! It's true that I haven't seen a bird that has a confirmed case of Marek's, so I can't say that it's not. It hasn't happened in a very long time (knock on wood), but I think that if it happens again I should have a necropsy done.
