I agree.

My mom's dentist attempted to expect her to wait for two weeks after a crown they had just put on fell off. They scheduled her two weeks out. She was pretty upset, but too shy to try and get an earlier appointment. It was hurting her bad. So, I called, asked to talk to someone in charge, and asked the lady if she would enjoy living without a crown for two weeks. Then I asked her if she would want her elderly mom living without a crown for two weeks. I was nice when I asked, but I managed to get her to think about what the patient was going through. My mom got her crown put back on two hours later. My mom was amazed because she was absolutely positive they couldn't fit her into the schedule like they had told her.

Sometimes you have to get them to realize how much pain someone is in to get them to act faster. Unless the patient makes it clear that this is a really bad situation, they will tend to think it can wait. Many dentists will work on emergency cases on Saturday, and some will even work on Sunday.

If you pray....please keep in mind my hubby. He's in agony needing a root canal and there won't be anyone who can address the issue until Tuesday. His appointment is set, but getthing there is gonna be a huge challenge from all the pain. He's tried every natural remedy we could google, plus he's on full time Ibuprofin + Percocet OR Vicodin and they're not helping in the slightest. Tomorrow he's taking John to his football game while I stay home with 2 feverish little ones. What a weekend!

When I had my last root canal, the tooth was so painful (I had bad dental work as a teenager that had a domino effect). I had to keep holding water on it. I was told that warm water helping means that it needs a root canal and cold means it's fine. That hasn't been my experience. Any water with a temp difference from my mouth has helped me. Anbesol did help me some as well. Put it around the base of the tooth and down the gum so it can soak in where the pain is. Nothing will really make the pain go away, though.



I went out last night to check on all the birds late. The silkie cockerel was standing weird and I took a closer look. He had EE chicks under him. I knew that they would climb under the silkie pullets when they got to cold since there is to much chick to fit under the brahma now. I did not know that the boy would let them under him as well. Usually he's at the front guarding all the girls behind him.

DH thinks it's going to be hilarious when the brahma doesn't have chicks anymore and the silkie tries to mount her. He's a tiny fraction of her size.

Oh, and with the tooth, I called the dentist the day the pain started and even though he couldn't get me in that afternoon, he did get me in first thing the next morning. He didn't do actual root canals but had called the orthodontist that did them all for him and had me scheduled for an appointment a couple hours after I got to his office. They took all the x-rays at his office then actually drove me over to the other. It was the orthodontist's day off but he came in just to fix me up. I wanted to hug him so bad after it was over. The pain was gone and I was so happy.

I'm glad to see Caunnie had a normal looking egg today. This morning I think we'll crack that 2nd egg that she laid in one day to see if it even has a yolk. It is a strange looking egg. Other than a double yolker that Caunnie laid one day, that 2nd egg has been our only egg oddity.

One thing I learned over the years about Chickens is you can help them out with lights, certain food, etc but they are on their time in the end.

One egg today from three yesterday with 11 chickens of which most are in molt or going to or just over it.
This year I decided to do the light after last years molt took months before they started laying again.

That don't cut it around here.
Most of you here they are pets to you and I understand that.

At my place they got to pay their way.
Only one paying right now is me for my feed bill. LOL!
GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!

Almost all of my adult birds are in molt right now.
The POL birds are about the only ones laying right now.

have him steer clear of anything warm or hot, it antagonizes the already feverish nerves.
You try any baby teething pain reliever ?
Other than that, clove oil works, but usually you must have an opening in the gingiva in order for it to penetrate.
If it has already abcessed, that may work, just a tiny bit though.

But the dental insurance isn't great. It covers exams, cleanings, x-rays 100%, but ANYTHING more like drilling a cavity or root canals or anything, we pay 40%. I think this is going to end up costing us several hundred dollars, but the alternative (no insurance) would be far more! Anyway, they *could* have started the procedure yesterday but wouldn't have been able to finish until Tuesday; we would have had to pay for several things twice, like anaesthesia/numbing, drilling, etc. So it's half our fault he's still in so much pain, but saving that much money was important to us.
