Okay so bought a house and decided hey, why don’t we get a couple chickens .”No experience whatsoever lol” and ummm ended up acquiring 14 mature chickens at one time . Wow, how crazy it’s been . I think we have done a wonderful job, all 13 girls love us, our boy Clyde jumps on the fence and yells non stop every time there is an egg in a box “we generally get up to 10 or so a day so far~ good for winter months with older chickens I would say we must be doing something right .? Anhoooo. Since we have had success learning as we go..., I decided to put a couple “3” eggs in a box in my room with a heating pad and a towel over it . Little did I know , I had to turn them 3-4 times a day, regulate the stupid heating pad about 9 times a day plus take care of all the older 14 chickens outside. So all I knew was it took 21 days and some humidity. I started panicking the last couple days because I hear a little pecking it has stopped , I see a little movement, that has stopped but problem is one is 23 days old , the 2nd one is I think 19 days old and the 3rd one is like 10 days old I think ~ what was at 1st oh I am going to hatch some chicks in a box has turned into constant worry . Problem is I have put the oldest in water totay, not sure if there was movement from gravity pull or it twirling around in its own in the water then it stopped . I see a bit of changes daily on shell even the shape but am I missing movement , peeps ,.? I don’t know if I can handle helping a baby chick I have become attached to out of a shell if I have to and it be dead maybe I should wrap the egg up and take it to feed store or vet to have it delivered? Lol uhhh this is frustrating. To be continued. Until tomorrow.
