Wasps starting to build a nest in my coop... what kind of pesticide?

I'm very alergic to their stings, so is DH. When I found this happening in my inner coop I was scared to go near there.

I grabbed some food grade DE and put it in a bucket. I took it over there and threw it by the handfuls at the nest and wasps. I coated the nest and area around it. They are dead and gone and did not return like they normally would. Safe for me and safe for the birds. All's well in my little world!

I use a Shop Vac...I'm very allergic to wasp stings and I refuse to use toxic sprays. The Shop Vac gets every wasp as well as the nest!

use a broom and your foot to stomp...if its only a few they will likely just take off to somewhere else you dont want them either.....

a word of caution on the shop vac. I have used the shop vac method too but make sure you run it for a minute after you suck em up and suck up some dirt or sand to make sure they are dead. I have seen live insects fly out of the shop vac after a quick spill clean up.

Whatever you decide to do, if you wait until nighttime all the critters will be in the nest in a calm state and make an easy target. I would not use poison in the coop, and rubbing alcohol is poisonous. Wouldnt the chickens eat a dead bug if you missed one cleaning up? I think I liked the DE idea the best, and they make a sprayer that holds powder in a long tube with a long handle that will push the dust out. Just wear googles and a dust mask, and keep the chickens somewhere else til the air clears.

The chickens are not in the coop when I spray the rubbing alcohol. I also pick up the dead bees afterward. By the time the chickens go in the coop it has already evaporated. I now have no more wasp in my coop.

've also heard that Pam cooking spray works too!? Don't know for sure yet but I'm sure I'll find out soon enough.
