I have never heard anyone mention this before. I was candling my eggs last night, fun, fun, and I accidentally touched the motor of the automatic turner. It is HOT!

And then I noticed that when the eggs are pointing toward that side, the side the motor is on, that the egg closest to it, TOUCHED it.

That egg is questionable, I think it probably died, and I think it was a perfectly good egg to start with, killed by the heat from the little motor.

I will never put an egg in that hole again.

Yep, we lost three hatches because I wasn't thinking and I put the thermometer probe too close to the motor. It was reading the heat off the motor so my temps were way off. Most turners will have that egg hole plugged.
Good advice to throw out there. Thanks

Very good information indeed! I've kept my thermometer well away from the turner motor and at a level that would be consonant with where the top of the eggs would be.....and still can't get the flippin' thing to hold steady!
