Hi there, newbie here. We are designing our coop--small for backyard 3 chickens, doing a cottage style raised up with trap door leading to a run underneath as well as off to the side. Are you suppose to keep their food in the coop or is it better to have in their run? We are in Kansas City area, so we get all kinds of weather. We are thinking of doing a "nipple" water system and PC pipe feeding system so you load the food from the top and it goes down in a opened PVC pipe trough--if that all makes sense. Mainly I just want to know where to put it all. Thank a lot! I am so addicted to this site already......

We keep both food & water inside and out.....

If the coop is really small and they always have access to the run area then put it there so you have more space inside. When weather is icky move it in. But if you have the space have it in both places

I Free range but i leave the door to the coop open. Drink when you want. Plus the pipe where the sink and shower wter comes out floods sometimes so they will also drink that.

I have the food inside the coop but leave the big door open during the day ( Helps prevent unwanted guests) and keep the water outside. I have a couple of big waters.
