I am putting my babies back in their rubbermaid tub at night for extra preditor protection outside. I didn't put their water in last night and this morning they were very very thirsty. At what point can they make it all night without water. They still have their heat lamp on since its chilly still at nights here.

I leave food and water in with mine all night, every night. I think most folks do.

They should always have access to water 24/7. I bought a little waterer at Tractor supply and keep that and their feed in with them at all times. We also already have their large feeder and water hanging in their coop and also in their run.

chicks need feed and water 24-7
they will grow better and will not get sick

it is a known fact that a chicken left with out feed and water, water especially will take 24 hrs for its body to over come the loss of time without water
so your defeating your purpose and hindering the birds from growing
That is why water and feed with young birds is so important
