I have a chicken ark with the top as their roost and the bottom as their run. I lock them up top at night. Do I need to move their food and water from bottom to top at night and then back down again? Perhaps I should get another feeder and waterer? I let them down about 8 in the morning and they go up right before dark.

How about a picture of this ark, sounds interesting. I'm too new to know the answer your question, I'm sure someone with more experience will answer this qeustion.

I provide food and water to my chooks 24/7; mainly because they are up at the crack of dawn (and hungry then) and I'm not. Also, having a second feeder is a good idea, especially if you have more than just a few chickens. Chickens that are higher in the pecking order can prevent lower ranking members from getting their fair share of food.
If you are up at the daybreak to release them to the bottom where there food is, you might not need to bother but it never hurts to have that second feeder.
If space upstairs is limited you might consider one of those square metal feeders designed to be mounted on the side of a rabbit pen. Wouldn't take up any valuable floor space, but the chooks could get a bite to eat in the early morning hours.

I'm still trying to figure out this message board. Not sure if this is 'reply' but that's what I'm hoping. Check out my website. It's listed under my username. :)

Thanks! I was thinking of the same thing with the rabbit feeder. Thank you! - Michelle
