Water belly, drained but still acting lethargic

Hey! I have a maybe 3 year old chicken that has been constantly getting water belly. My husband and I have drained it over a 6 month period probably 3 times now. This last time she was much fuller and it seems that she isn’t recovering as “fast” as she normally did. She’s been hiding a lot, and closing her eyes and her wings are dropped down. Is there something I can do to help her?

Unfortunately, ascites is a symptom of an underlying disease, not a disease in and of itself. It is often associated with liver and heart failure.

I'm so sorry, but Dobie is correct. Ascites is a condition brought on from something more serious. The only thing you can really do is what you're doing now, and then euthanasia when that no longer gives her relief.
