Update: she passed
I have a chicken that has water belly. I have drained it for a second time today. Last draining was about a month or so ago, where she was also infected with round worm.

The fluid both times was a cloudy yellow which I have now read could be from internal laying?? She hasn’t layed an egg since before her first draining. I have read that help for internal laying is antibiotics. Is there a way to get this medication without a vet? I don’t know of any chicken vet near me. Is there an alternative medication I can give her that is available at feed stores?

Thank you for the help!

I’m sorry for your loss. Few antibiotics are available without a prescription, but jedds.com has amoxicillin, tylosin, enrofloxacin, and sulfadimethoxine at this time. Have you ever done a home necropsy to look at the abdominal organs, to try and determine what the cause of her death and water belly were from? Sometimes they may have egg yolk peritonitis or coelomitis from internal laying, cancer, or fatty liver dsease. You cannpost any pictures her of a home necropsy and many may offer opinions. Your state vet may also be able to do a more thorough necropsy to see what she died from. I have only drained one of mine who I suspected of water belly, and she died within a couple of weeks as well. Here is a list of state vets to contact if you want to get a necropsy:
