Water bottles with a ball

Somewhat tired of removing them to refill, if i drill a hole on the top will they drain themselves? I thought it might be easier to water them from the top with a watering can?

This is what we built to water the chickens. It has been so nice and the chickens do so well with it. We fill the bucket once a day and they are happy the rest of the time. We do have a water bottle with a ball off to the side so they can get used to it because we are hoping to use this at the fair instead of a little plastic tub. We haven't had any problems with it yet (knock on wood).



Just don't let your little ones drink from it. This is what I found today.
