I found a couple teeny tiny, black, round water bugs today while changing the ducks' pond water. The pond water was pretty green and I was pretty freaked out by the weird insects. Do ducks eat these? Well.. Do they eat bigger ones? The ones I found must have been babies because they were no bigger than a pencil eraser. I don't even know where the heck they came from! I live in the desert! I remember seeing huge ones (like the size of my hand) in a neighbor's pool when I was younger, the kids there were so annoyed with me.. I just wanted to put the water bugs in a jar or a container to watch them and the kids wanted me to play with them, they were getting all mad, lol, anyways - Does anyone else get water bugs?
I'm also kind of interested in catching some.. How long could I leave the pond water in there until I find some bigger ones? As freaky as they are I'm quite intrigued

I'd release some big ones into my chicken's wading pool and let the chickens "fish" for water bugs.

There are a few different kinds of water bugs. The ones I have seen fly in. My beloved used to have a dark blue truck. One morning I found a water bug zooming around on the hood of the truck. I guess it looked like a body of water to the poor bug.

My ducks eat most bugs, except red ones (no idea why they don't eat red things, but that seems to be the case).
