Water For Snow?

If you have heat, presumably you have power? We have 2 of these heated 2 gallon buckets, they are only 60 watt so they arent a huge draw and they keep the water from freezing, i have seen 10 below this winter and they remained clear. I feed in their coop, wish I didn’t but now doesn't seem the time to quit. I have one in there and one outside... also they decided the snow storm today was the perfect time for a swim... dorks. The buckets are nice as they are deep but not wide so it doesn’t really allow them to bathe in it. But is plenty deep enough for several duck heads to be submerged at once. I think they were about 40 bucks at tractor supply. Be sure to plug into a GFCI protected outlet, i use a big rubber bowl upside down to keep rain and snow off the plug and a little rock under it to keep it off the ground.View attachment 2512846View attachment 2512847View attachment 2512848View attachment 2512849

This is what I do for mine, and I have found they seem to work the best as far as a water source. The little plastic chicken heated waterers you find at your feed store tend to crap out after a few weeks. Ducks have ineffective tear duct glands so rely on head deep water to lavage out debris in their eyes, and keep them moist - another reason why the buckets are good to have.
