Water in coop...

I have read a lot about people not keeping the water in their coop, that they leave it out in the run because the chickens don't need to drink during the night and they don't want to have to worry about the moisture from it. So what would I do about winter?? Our winters can be very cold in WY with lots of snow. Would I keep it inside during the cold winters when the chickens might not want to go out, and then outside in the summer???

I have one in the run & one in the coop. They hardly ever drink from the one in the coop. I just like having two in case something ever happens they will not be without.

I keep the water outside. In winter, I place a birdbath heater in the supply to keep it from freezing. Works great.

I was keeping water in the coop, but they never drank from it. I let them out into the run each morning anyway, and they don't always go right to the water, so they're not without it long enough to bother them.

I keep my waterer outside the coop because I have yet to find a waterer that does not leak.
I use a dry deep litter inside my coop, so I can't have ANY moisture inside otherwise there'd be an odor.
Chickens do not need the water at night anyway since they don't eat or drink at night.

Great idea about the birdbath heater! I think I will just keep it outside and use something to keep it thawed then.
