incase your not from florida or anywhere else tropical-ish, water moccasins (how ever they are spelt) or cotton mouths are supposed to be one of the most aggressive and venemous snakes. and ive seen one around my coop twice. anyone have any tricks or tips on how to keep the snakes away?

Mothballs are easiest since they're easy to come by. You could put them in cloth bags if you're worried about the chickens eating them.

A .22 pistol with rat shot in it or a shotgun. I won't kill non-venomous snakes, but moccasins can be very aggressive and I would not tolerate them near my coops.

I presume yours are near the water? Clearing away any brush near your structures would help a lot.
