Hubby and I are building a coop and we're wondering what we should use to make it waterproof. Something that's non-toxic if possible for the inside of the coop. It's made of wood. Thanks!

I just gave mine a good coat of latex paint a couple of days before moving the chicks in. Roof was done with the rubberized roofing in a gallon can.

I don't think that will work well since I'm allergic to latex! Any other options? Thanks.

We insulated and as a vapor barrier we bough 6 mil construction plastic. Of course, they will peck at it so we covered that with another sheet of plywood. And I don't believe the plastic contains any latex. My sister in law has a stage 3 latex allergy so we are careful with that kind of thing.

i dont know if its latex but we used special Barn and Fence paint on the inside of our coop as its supposed to be safe if the animals peck at it.-lisa
