Water Spillage Solution Needed!

I don't have water in the coop at all, only food and by the looks of it, space is a premium for you. there isn't a time that my chickens don't go outside. rain (we get it by the bucket load) wind, sleet, or snow they don't stay in the coop. I can't imagine a scenario that my chooks stay in their coop. they are out of the coop at dawn and they don't drink at night. so far no complaints.

I use dog water bottles instead of the traditional poultry waterers. I started when they were youngsters for the very same reason. The girls actually prefer the water bottles and refused to use the traditional waters after. It's much cleaner and no mess. Now I start my babies on a bird water bottle (the ball is red and attracts their attention) and then upgrade to the bigger one when they are about 2 weeks old.

They're bigger than a rabbit water bottle and you can find them at Petco

There is a picture of my run and the water bottle on this thread https://www.backyardchickens.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=290818 I keep one in the run and one inside the coop.

I also put my water outside. They go outside in the daytime and don't drink water in the middle of the night so it serves no purpose. If they are thirsty they will go out in snow, sleet and rain --- sort of like the postmen

we built a corner shelf, for our waterers, as the girls like to roost on the edges of everything. I have to water in the coop as the winter here is too cold to put water in the run.
I have a heated pet bowl that will fit on the shelf as well, if I need it.
