So I finally got my cage from Amazon and it has an area where I can put a little water container away from the pine shavings. My ducks still have their heat light but they don't really use it that much. When I put that water container in there they loved it but I'm worried they will get chilled. They are only 4 days old. So just checking to see if anyone has heard of issues giving baby ducks water they can swim in, when they are inside the house.

I've always provided swimming water for my ducklings, and have had no problems. As long as they have a stable heat source and no drafts they should be good, If you'd like to be safe you could provide just deep enough water for them to clean their nares out with

I would only use it for a small peroids of time when your there to check on them. My duckling was about a week old and she got pneumonia from it.

But one as shallow as yours you probaly don't need to worry about. But if you ever put a deeper one in there it could be a concern

Funny thing though is they like to cuddle behind a towel that my daughter left hanging in their cage.
So now the question is, when can I get rid of the heat lamp? They don't seem to use it but I'm sure it makes their surroundings warmer. I'm in Indiana and we are about to have some warm weather.

I usually leave the heat lamp on until they have their adult feathers in, of course the weather plays a big role in when i shut it off, yours definitely still need a heat lamp for a few weeks still.
