I am wondering what everyones water usage a month is............I'm having some problems with my town council about our water usage and its not just me but most of the town residents as well so i'd like to hear what everyone here averages.....so whats your average (summer/winter), how many people in the house, how many animals if its extreme, and is your water usage just average or do you go extreme like watering the yard everyday for hours, watering a gazillion cows or doing 20 loads of laundry a day ect ect...

also curious what everyone pays....... 4 yrs ago our bill was $12.00 and in 4 years they have raised it to $42.00 for 15,000 gallons a month we are now the highest paying in our valley and the surrounding counties and that is just for water....no trash or sewer. the big town of 7000 pop. in our county pays $60 a month and that includes water, trash pickup and sewer.

I live in an appartment and our water bill is close to $50 a month. There is 3 of us there and then 2 conures. I know my mom has a house and its like $75-100. Sometimes over. There is 2 of them there and 2 dogs plus she has a pool to keep up with and i have my ducks there and change their water every couple of days.

Average for water alone is $60- $75 per month. Doubles if we have a dry summer. Use is about 7ccf. Each ccf is 100cf or 748 gallons. Household is 1 human, 3 inside cats, 3 outside cats, 3 chickens, and 1 small pond that needs to be refilled occasionally.
Another $11 per month for storm drainage from the city.

You're lucky. I lived in St. George for a few years. Hundreds of dollars a month in the summer. Private water co.
If you think you have a case, call weights and measures to get your meter checked. Sometimes a leaky toilet flapper valve can waste
LOTS of water. The house before that one, I did call the state, the meter was mis-calibrated. I got some money back, as well as a new meter.
Find out where your meter is, and when you are certain all the water in the house is off, see if the gauge moves.

My water bill is anywhere from $15.00 (winter months) - $25.00 (summer months) every month and it has always been that cheap. I use about 5,000 - 7,000 gallons each month depending on the seasons. In the summer, the animals drink more water of course, so it's higher in the summer months. This is ONLY water. This does not include sewage, trash, etc. I think that my water usage is EXTREME because of the constant changing out water in order for the animals to have fresh, clean water every day but the bill is not extreme.

1. Single family home - from time to time relatives will spend weekends over helping on the farm (including up to 5 kids at one time each month)
2. 4 bedroom - 2 bath brick home
3. 7 loads a clothes each week (Loads double if relatives are over on the weekends.)
4. 165 Chickens-have about(30 waterers)1 gallon-5 gallon waterers & deep dishpans.(Water is changed DAILY to TWICE a day.
90 Muscovy Ducks - have 3 kiddie pools. (Water in pools are changed twice a day EVERY DAY to provide fresh clean water.)
13 Geese - (same as above)
13 BR Turkeys - (same waterers as above)
24 guinea keets (3 gallon waterer is changed EVERY DAY)
4 Peafowl (5 gallon waterer is changed every few days. They are clean drinkers who keep their living area VERY clean.)
7 Rabbits (Water is changed TWICE a day EVERY DAY)
9 Sheep(Water is changed ONCE a day EVERY DAY)
1 Goat (Water is changed ONCE a day EVERY DAY)
7 Feral Cats (Water is changed ONCE a day EVERY DAY)
5. 2-3 vehicles are washed every 2 weeks
6. Shower 2 times a day. More showers if relatives are over.

wooooooooo......... thankgoodness for a good ol fashion well! I don't have to pay for water, just the ele to run the pump. I'd hate to have to pay for water!

The reason i want to know the water usage is because when we first moved here 4 1/2 yrs ago our usage was on average during the summer 2500-4000 a month and during the winter less..... we are a family of 4 (2 adults and a 11 yr old and a 4 yr old) as of right now we have 11 chickens, 1 dog, 2 cats, 1 rabbit, and a horse that we just acquired 3 month ago so we haven't had her very long. anyways our water has gone from 3,500 during mid summer to this year they are saying our highest was 29,000 gallons not only that but they have done this to most the people in town and they tried to say we where getting free water all this time and that our meters worn't being read properly and multiplied right. and while all this is going on they put in a new water system in part of the town and new digital meters in all residents. so they said just wait till we get the new meters and we will go from there. fast forward we got the new meters and low and behold my last bill i received was 17,000 gallons and we haven't water the yard the last 2 month and we let the garden die. and to add to that all my neighbors are getting 40,000 gallon/60,000 gallon bills......and more and more people keep complaining but yet the council still insist that we're all wrong. we dont use alot in fact i do about 6 loads of laundry a week, dishwasher 3 times a week maybe, my son takes a bath 3 times a week and i every 3 day unless i get dirty, my husband and daughter take about a 5 minute shower every day, and during the summer we water the garden and yard about a hour or two total a week. except this year we got a lot of rain so its was about every 2 weeks. other then that nothing
so I am really interested in knowing what others water use is so i can get a idea.
the bill i'm not as concerned with they up the price from 12 to 42 to pay for the new system which is already having many problems
