It has crossed my mind that since I can not find a WW locally, why can't I make one out of a Ziplock bag? Would it give me a fair reading like a WW? I assume the fluid in a WW is of a thicker viscosity than water; how would that affect the true temperature? Can cooking oil be used? Just random thoughts. Input welcome.

Its just water an a zip lock is fine but they are bad about leaking. Fold it in half an put it in a coffee cup or put a ruber band around it an you have the same thing as a WW.

I used Hair Gel once in a ziplock and put it inside one of those plastic eggs you put candy in at Easter Time.
