I bought one of the plastic bottle waterers with the red tray and I'm not sure if its leaking or what but I'm having to change my pine bedding out almost everyday because its getting soaked from the waterer somehow.

I've Googled around but wanted to see what other types of waterers were good for chicks and what store or website can I order one from.

I have my chicks drinking out of a rodents water bottle. You know the little ones for mice, the big birds use the rabbit size.

yup the ones with the metal tube and the ball at the bottom. They are naturally curious and will peck at anything. I just tap my finger until I get them interested and then let them go for it. I love it because I hated cleaning out poopy water

It's much cleaner

Using this type of waterer, what is your waterer to chick ratio? How many weeks old are they when you switch to the rabbit-sized waterer?

I have 6 bobwhites that are a week old and they go through half a small bottle a day, the 3 week old coturnix have a bigger bottle and I refil it every morning. We have a dozen in there. They don't actually empty it, I just don't want it to run dry.

i use a quail waterer for my brooder chicks, the bedding gets wet when they kick bedding into their water, then the bedding acts as a wick and seeps water out into the rest of the bedding. THe way to fix this is to keep the waterer up off the bedding like a 1 inch thing of wood, or a really flat rock.

Do you have any pics of your quail waterer? Also, is there like a gamebird supply website that you order waterers and other supplies from?
