From the time my chickens get up to the time they go to bed they have access to the run and the coop. they spend most outside so i have moved their waterer out there. Of course at night i lock them up in the coop. My question is should i move their waterer into the coop with them at night even though they're only going to be roosting and sleeping? I have heard people say they have two and one goes in the coop and one outside but if they're just sleeping in there for now why do i need one inside? Any information about this or info on what you do would be appreciated.

i have mine outside but their coop door stays open, i have an enclosed run so if they need it they can go outside. Most pic's i have veiwed have them ouside and none inside or vice versa

I have their waterer inside the coop but I also have a plastic dishpan filled with water in the run. They love to stand in the dishpan when its hot. They especially like it when I overfill it and they can stratch in the mud.Chickens should have access to water 24/7. It does stay coller inside the coop but I do see them suing the water in the run as well.

That's interesting! I've only had chickens for about 6 years and I've never left food or water in their house except on really, really cold snowy days (rare here) when they don't want to go out.
No matter the weather, I open their door when I get up in the morning. They rush out and don't go back into the house until just before dark.

I have clean fresh water inside that I change daily.... I also provide a 2 gal reservoir outside that I change every 2 day with fresh water.

I would never let them be without water....

It may however depend on the size of the chicken house... how may you have .. and so on... My chickens spen alot of time in the chicken house even though they have a large grassy run.

Good Luck!

I lock the chickens into their coop every night. They have a waterer inside the coop and a second one outside. I only keep the feed inside though to keep the song birds from it.

ok thank you so much. i knew they needed water all the time but i didn't know what to do when there always outside and not in. Knowing what everyone else does makes things easier and gives me some ideas so thanks again.
