Hi,

Does anybody in California know what kind of permit you need for canada geese? I tried to look it up on the Fish and Game website, but all it just said "gamebird propagation permit" and there were two classes, under 175 pheasants and over 175 pheasants raised/year. Does this apply to waterfowl as well?

Hmmm.... I alwways thought that captive raised canada geese were legal.... guess not.

They are "legal" but like anyother waterfowl native to North America you are supposd to have a permit to have them. The rule is usually waived for true mallards but it is on the books and can be enforced if desired. Since the Canada is a different breed (actually breeds) than the two common domestic geese lines they stand out more.
