WATERMELON SEEDS

Trying to beat this Georgia heat, so I made my chickens watermelon treats.


I wanted to triple check that the seeds won't hurt them to eat?

I've frozen them, cut up in ice cube trays and even froze the skin of the watermelon.

They'll be fine! Mine love all fruits but when they see the box of cherrio's they run to that first!

Seeds are fine just not apple seeds...

I feed my Chickens whole apples....They would have to consume a lot of Apple seeds before it would ever become an issue....

Even apple seeds: a chicken is not going to eat enough seeds in an apple to do any harm. Now, if you fed them all the seeds from an apple sauce processing event, that might possibly be an issue.

When ever I open a cantaloupe or squash, the birds get the seeds as a special treat.

I've read that watermelon seeds are actually a natural de-wormer for chickens. I give my flock watermelon all the time and they love it so have at it!
