My Henny Penny has always laid huge eggs, but they are watery. Does she have a problem or is this normal for some hens?

How do you mean "watery?" Like the whites are very slippery? Completly normal. Or do you mean the shells or water-bag soft? Not normal.

May be the breed. As long as she is getting plenty of protein, should not be of any concern.

All of my hens lay eggs with super slippery whites. Hard to flip, but incredibly tasty.

Thanks for the info. Her eggs taste fine so I guess that's how she makes her eggs.

Sounds like it could be any number of reasons in this thread I came across about runny whites https://www.backyardchickens.com/forum/viewtopic.php?pid=1603531 that said:

"Fresh eggs should have a very thick white, not runny. Some causes in fresh eggs are possibly genetic or molting or very hot weather OR Infectious Bronchitis. That more than anything causes runny whites and a decrease in quality, as I understand it. It can run through a flock without alot of symptoms, especially if they are very healthy to start with."

Here is a link to all types of internal and external egg defects, including watery whites. Out of my 3 hens, 1 lays eggs with watery whites. This bothered me at first, but IMO they taste just as good as the others

How interesting...that chart also mentions rough handling and not storing them air sac up as causes.
