I got a batch of Polish eggs today. One was really weird shaped, so I candled it to see if it was a double yolker. It was not, but the air bubble inside just moved whenever I turned the egg. Is this a bad thing? Did the membrane for the air sac break in shipment? I just read on the Polish thread that they are susceptible to that problem in shipping.
Would like to know before setting the eggs tomorrow night.

Yes, that's what it sounds like. I don't know if Polish are more susceptible, but I've seen it on other breeds with shipped eggs. I think it can happen anytime eggs are shipped, no matter how well they are packed.

Yeah, I agree it's just a shipping problem

I seem to get one like that in every egg shipment lately.
I always give them a week in the bator to give them a chance but have never had one develop.

Oh Poo! That means at least two aren't going to work. She sent me extra, so I hope that the rest are okay. I didn't realize that was a hazard of shipping. She did a great job of packing them, so it wasn't anything on the shipper's part.
Thanks for the feedback guys.

Yeah, just the hazard of shipping unfortunately.

I've noticed that the shipped eggs that were packed air cell up have had less cases of ruptured air cells.
Good luck on the rest of those eggs.

With ruptured air cells?
Is there a trick to it?
I've had loosen air cells hatch but never a ruptured one.
But I always give them a chance.

Don't count them out because of it. I have 3 that grew that were like that, they are in the hatcher now, all 3 had movement when I went on lockdown.

I'll put them in and give a chance. I will have an over full bator, but I am sure that once I have to toss a couple of duds that I will have room. If they don't work out, there were some extras anyway. This was supposed to be for a school project in the classroom until the administrator turned the teacher down on her request. Believe me, I was NOT HAPPY, Bob!

What a great experience for the kids. Why on Earth would anyone deny the kids an opportunity to see such a marvelous event??
