Great idea. The weather here in New Orleans is grey and rainy so as soon as it clears I’ll post photos.
Thanks Shadrach.

Morning. Not sure where I should post this inquiry??? One of my hens has liquid poops with just a little soft stool. This has been going on for at least a week.
My apologies I haven’t been able to find the right forum where this is discussed.
Les, the Silver Wyandotte, has an average diet. Pellets with very little table scraps. She is molting so I’ve been giving a little extra mealworms. She roams during the day. Please advise.
thanks
Photos would be helpful. (hen and poop)Will do. I have no idea what her weight is and since she is molting she seems lighter. I will definitely look closely for worms.
Many thanks.
When I feel for weight, I am not after actual mass in grams or ounces, rather apparent amount of muscle mass and fat deposits.
Look for an increased interest in water relative to other chickens.
If you can make out issues based on photograph of bird, then situation is already dire. When I see a lot of white in watery feces, two things come to mind first as problems. First bird is not processing much food through gut. Depletion of crop, or failure to fill crop in evening can give insight into that. Secondly, the bird is catabolizing a lot of muscle tissue for energy resulting more production of the white nitrogenous waste. The watery part often indicates the gut lining is not able to reclaim fluids or the fluids are leaking into gut from the blood stream.
Pictures still needed. Good picture of face and shanks potentially useful. Light colored face, sunken in eyes, and thin looking shanks are to be watched for.
