I’m looking for an ID on poop and any thoughts onvhow to clear this up- not sure if it’s diarrhea, worms, infectious or some other thing.
3 out of 14 birds have had loose stool on the poop boards on and off for 4 weeks. I thought it was muddy water they drank from a spring thaw but the problem has persisted.

Hen 1: One of the girls has this white discharge (pic) that looks like stringy cooked egg whites- her last egg was soft shell 2 days ago, I treated with cal citrate with D daily- no egg yet- acts and eats normally.

Hen 2: Another girl has watery stool with some looser solids- pic 2- and a hint of the stringy white stuff. Acts and eats normally.
When frozen on poop boards some of the stools looks chalky/ ash grey color.

Hen 3: A 3rd hen has soft formed stool that has a greenish tinge, but a poopy butt. No foul odor like gleet. Hen 3 was sucessfully treated in mid-Feb for slow crop and wheezing with Tylan orally, symptoms cleared up in 2 days, I isolated her for 5 days to becsure. No others have or had any respiratory symptoms whatsoever.
All eat, drink normally. I feed an all flock 20%, oyster shell on the side, fresh water changed every 3rd day. No treats, but to treat loose stools I started giving 2-3 Tbs yogurt once a week mixed in feed to the flock- they eat it vigorously but it’s made no significant difference in stool quality.

All lay eggs except the hen with the white stringy very watery stool- she laid a soft shell 2 days ago. I gave her calcium citrate plus D two days ago- no egg yet- is generally a low producer/ layer.
I don’t worm routinely- they are in a coop/ covered run with dirt floor and straw for winter. No mouse isses in 2 months, no wild birds, critters. I see no skin or feather parasites, and no worms that I can see- albeit that if its not moving I wouldn’t know if its a worm.
Really do need direction and advice from the BYC pros, please.
TIA -Mel

I see runny brown droppings with white urates (kidney waste.) Could you ask your vet to run a fecal float on some fresh droppings collected in a ziploc bag? If your chickens have not been wormed you could go ahead and worm them with albendazole 0.08 ml once and again in 10 days, or SafeGuard liquid goat wormer 0.23 ml per pound for 5 days. What are you feeding them? Chickens may have runny poops if drinking a lot of extra water. Here is where to find albendazole for a good price:

I feed an all flock 20% pellet, no treats. I started them on yogurt 2-3,Tbs in feed once a week after the runny stools hit a second bird.
FF: I’ll ask my vet if they’re willing- no avian vets for 200 miles.
Is there egg withdrawal for the safeguard or Albedazole? Any idea what those drugs do to fertile eggs?
Thanks so much!
