Hello guys... So my daughter noticed that of our girls has this weird watery eye today. I wanted to see if anybody has experienced this before or know what it may be. It is pretty cold lately but i don't think its that. Upon investigating an much as she would let me, it just seems to be irritated from sand or dirt, Any suggestions?

Hello there and welcome to BYC!

So sorry about your bird. Does the face smell badly? If it does, it is probably Coryza. If there is no smell, I am thinking a respiratory ailment like MG or possibly a sinus infection.

Sulfadimethoxine or Duramycin should take care of this. Most respiratory ailments respond to either of these drugs. Tylan works well for Sinus infections too. If you don't have any of these drugs, some feed stores carry these or you can order on line from a poultry products website.

You might post this in our emergency section for more input on this....https://www.backyardchickens.com/f/10/emergencies-diseases-injuries-and-cures

I sure hope you can get your bird back to good health soon!

She doesn't smell bad at all and appears to be in good spirits actually. I will definetly monitor her for respiratory and sinus issues. Thank you so much for the info.

Hello :frow and Welcome To BYC! Hope your hen is OK.

Our "Brown Sugar" got her penicillin shot early this morning for her respiratory issue causing her "Bubbly Eye" lol. She is doing very well but we can tell she can't wait to be reunited with the other girls. Will post her "after" pic when she's %100. Thanks for the support everyone
