Hey Girl
I'am an old old old man getting started with chickens down here in South Carolina in York. Put some eggs in to hatch this week and need input on how to do it. I have six working girls and one lazy roaster. Liked your email and thank you have a good looking roaster do you get the eggs from them?  Jim

We've gotten 15 eggs feom them thus far (5 from each hen). None of them have been for hatching, yet, though. All four of our chickens are still pretty young. My rooster can't even crow properly, yet. :p

Good luck with your hatching!

:frow & :welcome from Alabama. Glad you joined us. Love your animals' names  Samoa cupcakes sound delicious - lots of good luck :thumbsup

Thanks! I have a thing for pasta. Sometimes I really think I should have been born Italian. :p
The cupcakes won't exactly be like samoas but the flavors were inspired by them (chocolate, coconut, and caramel). I'm getting a new stove in about 2 weeks so I'll only have 2-3 weeks to figure out how it bakes. That worries me a bit. I have my fingers crossed, though.

Thank you, everyone!

Hello Sandra!
Your chickens are very pretty! I just joined too and saw your post and that we are both from NC and 23! What a small chicken loving world!
Im sure your fresh eggs will make your cupcakes taste even better! Good luck at the fair! They look so yummy I might have to drive the 2 hours to the fair....

It really is a small world.

If I use my fresh eggs in the cupcakes I'll have to figure out the right ratio of bantam eggs to large eggs (I believe I read somewhere that it's 2:1).

I'd be real bummed if I lived 2 hours from the fair. Its about a 30 minute drive for me (I'm in southern Wake County).

Oh, and, thanks!

You could buy an inexpensive kitchen scale and weigh how much egg you are currently adding. Then you could match that with your bantam eggs!
I started using a scale to measure out my ingredients for bread making and will never go back! 1 cup of flour doesn't always equal 1 cup of flour but 1 lb of flour always equals 1 lb of flour!

I never thought of that. I actually have a small scale in one of the cabinets in my kitchen.
