I've been a lurker for a couple years now, didn't feel right joining while I was still in the "dreaming of a flock" stage instead of having one.

We had a brief introduction to chickens 2 summers ago as I had picked up 3 hens and a rooster for my parents, they stayed with us for a while & eventually moved to their place. However, Mr. Cluckers annoyed the neighbours and he came back to my place. I acquired a single female (Amelia) to keep him company. Sadly both were made into a tasty meal for some coyote :(

After being talked into allowing me to have some chickens (by his mother) my husband finally agreed, and yesterday we received our 3 girls from a friend of mine who had just picked up her own bundle of fluffy cuteness. From the information they were given about them at the hatchery, I'm figuring 1 is a RIR and the other 2 are sex-links (Isa browns). They have been named "Carmen" (IB), "Clover" (IB), and "Cuddles" (RIR). They were hatched last Wednesday.

Cuddles had a pasty butt issue, and I had soaked her rump in warm sugar water which worked wonders, but she's now got a bare bum as there are no feathers around her vent like her sisters have.

A few"about me" things. I have 4 kids, 2 dogs, 2 cats & a rabbit (and now 3 chicks). I like to cross stitch. Yup, nothing overly oooh ahh spectacular. ;)
