(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
I am not new to chickens. I owned some years back at a horse farm I ran, and upon moving to my own place got some right in my back yard.
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
I have 14 chickens and one turkey right now.
(3) What breeds do you have?
I have pheonix, cochin, silkie, barred rock, and some mixes.
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
I love their personalities. Everyone is different. I also just like looking at them. They are pets, nothing more, although my parents have stopped badgering me about "too many animals" since they started getting most of the eggs.
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
I do a lot of crafty things. I also do a fair bit of writing .
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
I work in a hospital as a patient access representative. Fancy term for person who checks patients in and out of appointments. I love comfortably close/far from my parents. My other pets are cats and occasionally scorpions.
(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community?
I have used the questions and answers here to help me with my flocks over the years through Google searches. I finally wanted to join the community when I couldn't find others to talk chickens about.
